Adaptive waveform design for interference mitigation in SAR

This work details an interference mitigation scheme for synthetic aperture radar (SAR) which adapts the transmitted waveform spectrum to restore quality of scene range-profile based on estimated spectrum. By expressing estimation in presence correlated noise as a system identification problem, cost function optimal is derived. In order respond effectively changes radio frequency (RF) environment, adaptive systems should perform design small timescale, ideally pulse-to-pulse basis. Motivated by need computationally efficient scheme, alternative estimator derived, yields closed form solution, shown similarly case. A series test SAR images demonstrate efficacy this technique and are compared standard linearly modulated signal stretch processing outcome.
